As we battle an invisible enemy, ask yourselves, were we really at “peace” back in pre-pandemic times when the world was supposedly “normal”? And hopefully, when these tough times are behind us soon, what will “peace” be like in the “new normal”?
I made my short film Backdrop in 2007 after I first witnessed the flag ceremony at the Wagah border which led me to question the very definition of peace.
Backdrop is being showcased at the Bandra Film Festival and is curated as part of a three film collection titled A Point Across. The collection includes Ranbir Kapoor’s first screen appearance in the short film Karma directed by Abhay Chopra and Mara Ahmed’s documentary A Thin Wall.
Launched in February 2021 by FilmKaravan in association with YouTube, the Bandra Film Festival is a year-long initiative which is showcasing a selection of films from diverse film-makers that are being seen in a new light. Abhay Deol is the festival’s brand ambassador.
Backdrop went live from May 5 and played on BFF till October 6.
